A busy, pedestrian beach with lots of trinket shops and restaurants on the north end and sprawling condos to the south. Access from either Bonita Beach Causeway or San Carlos Boulevard. Scooter rentals and tattoo shops are a staple on the island. Bars, restaurants, parasailing and waverunners are all prominent fixtures.

Pros: Relatively wide beach by Southwest Florida standards. Lots of shops and small eateries on the north end of the island.
Cons: Some of the worst traffic in Southwest Florida. Parking is more expensive than other local beaches.
Likely visitors: Bikers, college kids on spring break, pier fishermen and people looking for a beach similar to those found in the panhandle.
Getting There:From the south, take Highway 41 to Bonita Beach Road and make a left. Bonita Beach Road becomes Hickory Boulevard, then Estero Boulevard. Make a left off of Estero Boulevard at several places to reach the beach.
Parking: There is limited metered parking available along Fort Myers Beach. There are a numerous lots and garages along Estero Boulevard that offer all-day parking for around $7.
