SUV rollover briefly closes westbound lanes of Alligator Alley

Monday, January 29, 2007

The westbound lanes of Alligator Alley were closed for about a half hour this afternoon after a sport utility vehicle rolled over near the 86 mile marker.

The wreck occurred around 12:45 p.m., said Golden Gate fire spokesman Victor Hill. The Florida Highway Patrol arrived on scene at 1:05 p.m. Two people were transported to the hospital via air ambulance, and a child and an adult were also transported by ground, Hill said.

"We had to shut down the westbound lanes briefly so we could get the patients loaded up and transported," Hill said. "We tried to get the lanes open as fast as we possibly could."
