Tank needs: The large aquarium that sits in the front office of San Carlos Park Elementary School has been a permanent fixture at the school for the past 10 years. Front office employees are eagerly looking for the next volunteer to help maintain the tank before another fish goes belly-up.

School says: "We just don't want to lose anymore fish," said Gail Gerberich, clerk typist. "The kids love to come in."

Why: A volunteer, who was a professional in keeping up on fish tanks, helped the school with the tank for a number of years, and more recently, a school secretary maintained it until she left the school.

"We don't want to get rid of it," said Ana Ayala, the principal's secretary.

Get involved: The tank, which has about 20 fish right now, requires a monthly visit to the school to clean and check the PH balance. The school currently takes care of feeding the fish, and also would pay for the cost of supplies in maintaining the tank.

Find out more: Interested volunteers should contact San Carlos Elementary School, 17282 Lee Road, 267-1234.
