Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Fort Myers police officers have located the woman who they say escaped from the back of one of the patrol cars early Tuesday.

Jessica Stevenson was located and arrested at the Golf View Motel on Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

Police have charged Stevenson with escape, trespassing, providing a false name to a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Steveson, 21, had been arrested for trespassing at an apartment complex located at 3585 Central Avenue in Fort Myers when she escaped from the back of a patrol car, according to Shelly Flynn, public information officer for the Fort Myers Police Department.

Officers believe she slipped through a partition from the back of a patrol car and escaped from the front of the car, Flynn said.

Flynn said she had never heard of someone escaping from the back of a patrol car through a partition into the front.

Reports say police were led to Stevenson by surveillance operations that led officers to members of the community who revealed her location.
