The television is king at Big Al’s Sports Grill. There are 50 of ‘em in all, which means just about everywhere you look, you’ll see a sporting event of some sort. There’s also lots of Chicago-related sports memorabilia, like a hockey stick signed by Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull and a huge picture of Michael Jordan at the bar. Big Al’s menu is full of classic American cuisine, like chicken wings and baby back ribs. Don’t forget the meatloaf, done the way Al’s mom used to make it. If you’ve got a big appetite, meet the Big Al, a whopping pound of cheeseburger topped with Al’s Secret Sauce. Big Al’s is equal parts restaurant and bar and those who come for the drinks will enjoy the weekday happy hour between 3 and 7 p.m., when drinks are half price. Sunday through Friday, drinks drop to half price after 10 p.m. as well.
