Dusseldorf's on the Beach

German restaurants and relaxed beach-style dining might seem like an odd pairing, but Düsseldorf's on the Beach seems to pull it off with unusual flair. An illustration in the menu even features a shirtless man in lederhosen holding a surfboard inscribed with an invitation to "join our beer club."

The hefty menu is chock full of South German specialties like Jaeger Schnitzel and Leberkaese as well as fun sandwiches like the Alpine Delight and the Heidelberg Hoagie. The Biergarten out front's been known to get a little rowdy when the sun goes down and you can become a part of the aforementioned beer club, complete with your very own membership card, by simply ordering a brew.

And if that's not enough, the selection of over 100 beers from around the world should help convince you that there's nothing wrong with immersing yourself in some Teutonic beachside decadence every now and then.
